The fine print

Privacy Policy

Last reviewed 30 July 2026 · PlayObserve

PlayObserve is a small data-journalism desk, and our approach to your data is just as lean. We collect the details you hand us on purpose — nothing scraped, nothing sold. This page explains what we hold, why we hold it, and how to get it back or gone.

What we collect

When you request an Insider pass or write to us through a form, we ask for your name, email address, phone number, the plan you chose and any optional message. That is the whole list. We do not collect payment card details on this site — billing is arranged separately after we reply, so no card numbers ever touch our forms.

Like most sites we also see basic technical information your browser sends, such as an approximate location and device type, plus optional analytics about which reports get read. You control the optional part through the cookie banner.

Why we use it

Your contact details let us reply, send a payment link, switch on your access and deliver the weekly briefing. We use aggregated reading data to decide which beats deserve more reporting. We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not pass your details to data brokers.

Who sees it

The desk sees your submission. A short list of processors — our email provider, our form host and our billing tool — handle it on our instructions and nothing more. If a law or a court in Spain requires disclosure, we comply, and we tell you where we are allowed to.

How long we keep it

Active member contact details stay while your pass is live and for a reasonable window afterward for tax and support records. Enquiries that don't become subscriptions are cleared once the conversation is plainly finished.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, export or delete what we hold, and you can unsubscribe from the briefing with one click in any email. Because we operate from Spain, EU data rights apply. Write to [email protected] and a person — not a bot — will handle it. If we ever change this policy, the date at the top moves and material changes get flagged to members by email.
